Famoso is ranked one of Canada’s fastest growing franchises. They’ve introduced us to “Fast Casual” dining – meaning – you order at the table and then enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and added at-table service. Once you order, the servers take it from there! Our service at Famoso Calgary was great.
Normally pizza is not considered a health food. However, if the crusts are a little thinner and the ingredients are fresh – I don’t see why a little ‘za once in a while is a bad thing!
Being gluten-intolerant, I actually avoided flour all together on this visit. I had the PROSCIUTTO WRAPPED
MOZZARELLA BALLS, described as: Fior-di-latte wrapped with prosciutto (Italian dry-cured ham), baked in Campania
tomato sauce, fresh basil, and pecorino romano. Served with flatbread.
It tasted great! The texture was lovely – the crunch of proscuitto and the soft warm ooze of mozzarella. The tomato sauce was lovely. The simplicity of this meal was appreciated. I did donate my flatbread to another fellow diner, making my meal even more healthy! (Well, healthier for me to not eat the bread – not so healthy to the person who decided to adopt my bread on top of their existing pizza order!). Online they do have a great allergy menu for people who need to avoid certain ingredients. The portion size was small as it is an appetizer, but I only wanted a very small bite – so this was perfect! All in all, I feel this choice was a lower-carb, simple and healthful meal.
