Healthy is stylish when dining-out!
The potential Problem: You don’t want your friends to peg you as the over-critical, and too careful foodie who is picky, and won’t let loose over a plate of french fries. Yet, you want to eat healthy!A reasonable question: How can you eat healthy, while not imposing on your friends when dining-out?
My answer: It is all about how you go about eating healthy when dining out at a restaurant! It is very possible to make being healthy stylish instead of looking overly critical about the food you are about to order!
Tips on how to dine-out with your health in mind!
- Give your friends the heads up before you dine out that you will be trying to choose a healthier item!
When you are out with your friends get them in on your goal of eating healthier. Tell them that you want to make healthier choices, or that you want to maintain your health, and don’t want to over do the rich foods. Get them excited, and involved in your goal of wanting to learn more about how to eat healthier when dining-out! Chances are they will be interested in this too, and want to participate, and support you. Go team, go!
- Share the latest Restaurant trend with your friends!
What am I talking about? Well, more and more restaurants are offering locally sourced food items, organic veggies, and free-range chicken and grass fed beef, as alternatives to GMO veggies, and hormone induced chicken and beef that is widely available in the food market today. More and more people are caring about what goes into their food, and how it affects their bodies. People are starting to ask how their food is prepared, and what kinds of oils are used. Really, by caring about what goes into your meal, you will be on the cutting edge of the Foodie Movement. This movement lends itself to the more inquisitive diners, and personally, I hope this movement is here to stay! Let’s keep getting informed!
- Socializing with your friends is a good thing, while taking time to savor your food!
Best ways to get healthy, get the chatter going…! Right off the bat, create a health-focused dialogue with your server, and take into consideration their opinions about what they think are the healthier menu items. It will get a great conversation going about everyone’s food choices, and how to eat healthier! A simple question like, “What do you find are the healthier menu items?” will help your entire group choose tasty, yet wiser food options. If you set the example and go with a healthier option, your friends will probably follow your lead!
- Eat slowly!
Really savor your food, and enjoy the conversations your friends are having. We are always rushing these days to work and from work. Yet, let’s stop, and really appreciate our friends and our food! Try more exotic dishes, and try and guess the spices used. There is a new tea connoisseur movement going on, so why not start a spice connoisseur movement!
- Have a purpose, a.k.a., do a health-focused review!
Use our website as a tool to make smarter dining-out choices, and let your friends in on it by telling them you will be reviewing a healthier menu item for the sake of doing a review on our site. It’ll show discipline, and we may be biased, but we think having a healthy-focus and rating your food dish on how healthy it is, is… well, pretty cool!
