Why am I drinking Plant-based Milk Alternatives?
Lately, I have been off of dairy due to my baby having an allergy to dairy milk. I have been having a lot of plant-based milk alternatives and this is one of my favourites thus far. It is smooth and works well in tea and cereals. This Silk Unsweetened Coconut Milk is Gluten, soy, carrageenan-free, and does not have any artificial colours or flavours.
What’s in it?
Ingredients: Coconut base (filtered water, coconut cream), Vitamin and mineral blend (calcium carbonate, zinc, gluconate, vitamin A, palmitate, vitamin D2, riboflavin [B2], vitamin B12), Locust bean gum, Sunflower lecithin, Gellan gum, Sea salt, Natural flavour.
To sum it up:
Overall, for each cup you drink of this Unsweetened Coconut Drink, you will get 23% of your daily calcium needs, and 42% of your B12 needs. The list of differing vitamin percentages goes on and is quite impressive due to this drink being fortified. Interestingly, this beverage only offers 45 calories per cup. It is considered non-GMO, and Vegan. It is made and distributed by Danone Canada from what I can see. The carton is also recyclable. I also love that it doesn’t have Carrageenan in it.
